Taiwan inaugurates ‘Tourism Information Centre’ in Mumbai, makes a grand showcase at OTM, Mumbai 2024

Taiwan Tourism Administration (TTA) has unveiled the Taiwan Tourism Information Centre (TTIC) in Mumbai, India, marking its determined return to the Indian market after a hiatus of over three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Information Center is situated at the esteemed Raheja Platinum on the bustling Andheri-Kurla Road, a focal point for business activities.
TTIC Mumbai aims to serve as a comprehensive resource hub for all travel, tourism, and hospitality-related inquiries about the stunning island nation. The inauguration of the Tourism Information Centre was attended by key figures from the travel industry, attracting approximately 85 leading Indian tour operators based in Mumbai.
Additionally, Taiwan has expressed its strong commitment to developing the Indian market through a vibrant destination showcase at the ongoing OTM travel trade show in Mumbai. Alongside reconnecting and fostering tourism trade relations with Indian stakeholders, the tourism board is conducting destination seminars and networking events to disseminate information and empower prominent Indian trade buyers. OTM is renowned as India's largest B2B business-focused travel exhibition.
A distinguished tourism delegation from Taiwan, led by Dr Trust Lin, Deputy Director-General of the Taiwan Tourism Administration, Taiwanese Ministry of Transportation and Communication, graced both events. Notable members of the delegation included Homar Chang, Director General, of the Taipei Economic Cultural Centre, Mumbai; Joseph Chang, Director, of the Taiwan Tourism Administration, Singapore office; Shiang Tsao, Director of, the Taiwan Visitors Association, alongside several prominent Taiwanese tourism stakeholders.
Dr Lin hailed the inauguration of TTIC in Mumbai as a significant milestone in Taiwan's tourism outreach in India, emphasizing the enduring bond between the two nations. He expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed Taiwan's ambitious plans for the Indian market, highlighting the commitment to fostering stronger ties and expressing heartfelt appreciation to the Indian community.
According to Joseph Chang, Director of the TTA Singapore Office, the initiative aims to strengthen connections with the Indian outbound tourism trade and tap into the outbound travel tourism market by providing accessible information and education through the Tourism Information Center. Furthermore, Taiwan seeks to position itself as an appealing MICE destination and attract middle to high-income groups for travel experiences.
The event was complemented by exhilarating street dance performances and Taiwanese pop music by the renowned Taiwanese dance group 'FunTo Art.'
